Endometriosis

Endometriosis.

This is when the body turns a natural process into chronic pain.

For many women, painful periods have been normalized. They are told, “It’s just part of being a woman.” “It will disappear when you give birth”.

But there is a difference between discomfort and debilitating pain. If your periods leave you bedridden, make you miss school or work, cause pain during intercourse, or leave you constantly exhausted, your body may be telling you that something more serious is happening. The body always communicates.

Endometriosis is a condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus.

These growths can occur on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, the outer surface of the uterus, the bowel, bladder, and other pelvic structures even in the lungs.

Although this tissue is outside the uterus, it still responds to hormonal changes during the menstrual cycle as though it is still in the uterus. It thickens, breaks down, and bleeds, but unlike menstrual blood that leaves the body, this blood has nowhere to go. The result is inflammation, irritation, scar tissue, and chronic pelvic pain. You can imagine if this is happening in the lungs.

Endometriosis is more than a gynecological condition. It is also an inflammatory disease.
The immune system appears to play a role, and chronic inflammation can amplify pain and contribute to fatigue and reduced quality of life. This is why many women experience symptoms beyond their menstrual cycle, including persistent pelvic pain, lower back pain, painful bowel movements, bloating, and overwhelming fatigue.

The greatest challenges with endometriosis is delayed diagnosis. Many women live with symptoms for years before receiving the correct diagnosis because severe menstrual pain is often dismissed as “normal.”

It is not normal to be unable to function every month because of pain.

+ You are not endometriosis, don’t make it your identity. We don’t have to sympathize with you, you will have to put in the work.

Now the earlier you jump on to that train, the better. Otherwise, pain killers, unending hospital visits and surgeries will be your lifestyle.
