FASTING

Fasting is not just about skipping food it’s a metabolic reset, cellular cleaning and spiritual aligning.
Fasting is not a weightloss program, it is a bigger part of the pillars of healthcare.
Let me break it down once more:
0 – 8 Hours:
- This is a transition phase.
- The body is still burning glucose from your last meal.
- Insulin levels begin to drop, signaling your body to start shifting from glucose to fat for fuel.
- The liver begins to release stored glycogen to maintain blood sugar levels.
- Digestive rest begins and your gut gets a break.
- Mental clarity may start to increase.(Underline, may).
- Mild hunger pangs or cravings due to withdrawal symptoms of carbs.
- Slight fatigue as your body “realizes” no food is coming.
Your only duty is to stay hydrated; water and salt, black coffee, green tea.
8 – 16 Hours:
- This is where fat burning begins. Possibly how those who are involved in fasting for weightloss start to benefit.
- The liver’s glycogen stores start depleting.
- The body begins shifting into fat metabolism.(Lipolysis)
- Insulin drops tremendously. You are now in a burning and emptying phase than a storage mode.
- Human Growth Hormone rises and helps preserve muscle and repair tissues. This is why you will not lose muscle because of fasting. Unlearn.
- There’s mproved insulin sensitivity.
- Beginning of weight loss and fat adaptation.
- Reduction in inflammation markers.
- Hunger intensifies (especially around usual meal times). (Read on Pavlov’s classical conditioning.)
- Possible headaches or irritability if you’re used to frequent eating and snacking.
- Add a pinch of sea salt or electrolytes in water if you feel dizzy. Your body is losing sodium as insulin drops.
16 – 24 Hours:
- This is the ketosis activation.
- The body fully enters ketosis; burning fat and producing ketones for brain and muscle fuel.
- Autophagy begins; your cells start cleaning out old, damaged proteins and toxins.
- Deep detoxification. ( You don’t need that vomiting stuff for “detox”).
- Enhanced brain function and focus.
- Energy becomes more stable.
- Immune system begins to rejuvenate.
- Some people experience bad breath (due to ketones) which goes away after a salt water spree.
- Slight muscle weakness.
- The new ones to it can get sleep disturbances.
- Light stretching or a gentle walk and for the gurus, go lift weights helps your body adjust and circulate ketones better.
24 – 36 hours :
- This is Cellular cleanup and repair.
- Autophagy peaks; Old cells are broken down and recycled.
- Stem cells begin to activate.
- The gut lining starts to heal. This is how you win the battle against gut problems. If you have ulcers, start fasting.
- Inflammation continues to reduce dramatically. Arthritis symptoms start to improve.
- Anti-aging effects at the cellular level. You skin health starts to improve. You don’t need cosmetic surgery, fast.
- Sharp mental clarity. You don’t need food to think. Unlearn.
- You might experience cold hands or feet as the body conserves energy.
- Possible drop in blood pressure (especially if dehydrated). Hydrate adequately. Stay calm and restful.
36 – 48 Hours:
- The Deep healing state.
- The body is running efficiently on fat and ketones.
- Insulin sensitivity improves even more.
- Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) rises, supporting memory and mood.
- Your digestive system is in total rest mode.
- Deep mental calmness and clarity.
- Major inflammation reduction (joints, gut, skin).
- Strengthened immune response.
- Emotional cravings (you may miss the habit of eating, not actual hunger).
- Slight tiredness as energy is conserved.
- Stay hydrated. Read and meditate.
Remind yourself that you’re now in the healing zone, you need it.
Your mind keeps going back and forth in the kitchen. Resist.
48 – 72 Hours:
- This is the regeneration and renewal stage.
- Stem cell regeneration is in full effect.
- Immune cells are being recycled and replaced.
- Metabolic reset; your insulin, blood sugar, and hormones stabilize.
- Your digestive tract and liver are fully reset and rejuvenated.
- Deep body repair.
- Boosted metabolism and longevity.
- Stronger immune defense.
- Better sleep and mood regulation.
- Fatigue, especially if you’re not supplementing electrolytes or salt.
- Possible lightheadedness.
- The temptation to “reward” yourself with heavy food at the end grows bigger, resist this.
Start preparing mentally for breaking the fast gently. It’s the most delicate part of the process.
