Smoking
Good morning advocates.
The tobacco and nicotine industry has successfully rebranded smoking, but the damage to the body remains the same.
Men smoking through car windows in traffic jams, men and women sharing shisha in clubs, and university students carrying vapes as though they are harmless.
Whether it is cigarettes, shisha, or vaping, toxic chemicals enter the bloodstream within seconds and begin damaging the inner lining of blood vessels.
This damage triggers;
- Inflammation
- Narrowing of arteries
- Reduced oxygen delivery, and
- Increased blood clot formation.
Over time, this sets the stage for high blood pressure, heart attacks, strokes, erectile dysfunction, and poor circulation to vital organs leading to organ death.
The real danger is that smoking does not affect only the lungs. It contributes to almost every major chronic disease.
It accelerates heart disease, chronic lung disease, diabetes complications, kidney disease, dementia, infertility, and many forms of cancer including lung, throat, bladder, pancreas, kidney, and cervical cancers.
Smoking weakens the immune system, increases oxidative stress, and speeds up biological aging.
Many smokers focus on the cigarette in their hand, but the true battle is taking place inside their blood vessels and organs every single day.
If we want to reduce the burden of chronic disease, we must stop viewing smoking as a lifestyle choice and recognize it as one of the most powerful drivers of inflammation, vascular damage, and premature death.
Avoid smoking.
