Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis
We used to think that this is a condition for the elderly, but nowadays, a lot of young people are experiencing it just like diabetes, arthritis and hypertension.
Osteoporosis is weakness in bones due to loss of bone mass. This fragility exposes you to fractures even with very minimal tension or impact.
Most women in menopause suffer from unexplained fractures and we said estrogen dominance is the cause of post menopausal syndrome which has weak bones as part of the symptoms.
There’s something called Bone remodeling, which means bones are always being destroyed and then rebuilt back.
In bone health, two things are involved;
- OsteoClasts; which “cut” down the bone( destroy) and,
- OsteoBlasts; which build back the bone.
This balanced process was designed to decline with age to where osteoclasts are doing the cutting but osteoblasts try to take an early break. Never allow this to happen early than it’s designed.
There are medication for weak bones that are called bisphosphonates. They can help reduce the risk of fractures as a result of weak bones. But, they only focus on limiting additional bone loss instead of building more bone tissue.
They also have a problem of exposing you to atrial fibrillation which means irregular,often rapid heart rate that causes poor blood flow exposing you to; stroke,heart disease and kidney failure.( Especially if you have an underlying metabolic syndrome like diabetes).
Supplementation with vitamin D3, K2 and Mg can be helpful as you change the kitchen.
These combination of supplements can also help in dental cavities.
Vitamin K2 increases the deposition of calcium from blood and blood vessels into the bone.
This can also improve outcomes in hypertension since calcium deposits in blood vessels cause hypertension.
Realize, I haven’t mentioned the use of calcium supplements because, calcium can be found in diets.
Calcium supplements are calcium carbonate (chalk) which can cause you more problems including constipation and a risk of hypertension and heart attacks.
As you supplement;
- Drop all inflammatory foods
- Fast(2MAD, OMAD Prolonged fasts)
- Eat a high fat diet( animal fats)
- Fermented cabbage is a rich source of Calcium and vitamin K2
- Butter,cheese,egg yolks,organ meats, poultry, avocados and red meats are all rich sources of calcium, magnesium, vitamin D and vitamin K2. Eat them in plenty.
Additionally, zinc is also important in this process. Pumpkin seeds, nuts and seeds foods are rich in zinc. Eat them.
In menopause and pregnancy, maximize these diets and their outcomes. Menopausal symptoms are abnormal. Put in the work.
